The Marriage Act 1961 requires the following:
 | You must lodge your Notice of Intended Marriage at least one month before | |
| the ceremony and you must sign a declaration before your marriage to state you are free to marry, (this means that there is no legal impediment to your marriage). |
| I must view your birth certificates or if born overseas, your passport. |
| I must view hard copies of termination of any previous marriage - this | |
| includes death certificate or final divorce decree. |
| If you are under the age of 18, consent forms are required. |
| You will need two witnesses at the ceremony, (both 18 years or older). | |
